Summary The stability of Tension Membrane Structures (hereafter TMS) depends on existing prestress in the membrane. Therefore, the stress relaxation is an extremely essential problem for this structure. In Japan, the TMS is usually designed based on the idea that the stability of structures is secured by re-prestressing for relaxation. On the other hand, the TMS with spring-strut system proposed in this paper based on the different concept from the conventional TMS. The purpose of this paper are to proposes of the TMS with spring-strut system and to reports on the effectually results obtained from a full-scale experiment on this system.
