Summary The present study aims at confirming the validity of the formerly proposed constitutive equations for fabric membranes under cyclic loadings. The crimp interchange, material nonlinearities of the yarns and coatingsEand the interaction between the yarns and coatings are considered in the equations as a nonlinear continuum. ThereforeEthe equations have a form that can be directly applied to FEM analysis. In the experiments the authors performed three loading tests. FirstEin the bi-axial loading tests the tensile stress ratio was kept constant during all the process of this experiment. SecondEthe ratio was changed during the cyclic loading depending on the change of stress ratio. FinallyEshear loading test was executed by controlling shear strain with initially introduced tension stresses. The validity of the proposed constitutive equations was confirmed by comparing the stress-strain relationships of analytical results with those from experiments under cyclic loadings.
