Summary This paper is concerned with wind tunnel experiments for dome models with configuration of the rounded rectangular plan and the minimum surface area. The wind tunnel tests using flexible dome models with three rise ratios were conducted in the turbulent boundary layer simulated by geometric scale of 1/250, and we discussed about the wind pressure acting on dome surface and the internal pressure-control to stabilize the dangerous deformation of dome structures. Concretely, the aim of this experiments was consisted to comprehend the property of wind pressure acting of flexible model, to make clear the deference for solid model, and to discuss the characteristics of fluctuating wind pressure acting locally or/ specially on dome roof surfaces. A series of internal pressure control tests conducted in the boundary layer were discussed with comparison of similar tests in uniform flow. Furthermore, we discussed about the method, which was induced by the basis of similarity about the tensile force in a membrane of domes, to evaluate of the internal pressure control to stabilize the structure deformation in strong winds.
