Title MEMBRANE ARRANGEMENT FOR MEMBER BUCKLING OF DOUBLE-LAYER LATTICED STRUCTURES
Author Yoshiya Taniguchi,Toshitsugu Saka,Tooru Maehata
Summary As a new structural system for spatial structuresEŒa hybrid structure consisting of membrane and space frames was already presented. In this caseEŒmembrane as well as latticed members is taken into account as a structural element and play a role in restraining the member bucklingEŒto increase the buckling strength of the whole structure. The membrane materials used in spatial structures are usually PTFT coated glass fiber fabrics being orthotropic. Then in this paperEŒthe effect of membrane arrangement on the elastic buckling load and buckling mode is numerically investigated for double-layer grids of two types. The membrane arrangement of 5types is adopted for each grid. As a resultEŒthe buckling mode can be changed by some membrane arrangements and the buckling strength increase in the range of 54-98% higher than the double-layer grids without membrane.
